Gwynne Dyer- 9/11 Truth Denier Comes to Sheridan (Both Campuses)

A prominent member of Canadian poltical scene is coming to Sheridan this thursday 2:00-3:00pm in Room B310! He has just finished writing an article in the Now! magazine of Toronto called "The Conspiracy Virus: Growing Obcession with 9/11 doc's theories only detracts from Bush's real crimes." The article uses a "straw man" argument to convince readers that questioning 9/11 is illigitimate. "Straw man" is misrepresenting someone else's claim in order to discredit it. Please read the article if you are planning on coming. I will be at his lecture asking him some tough questions about this article, and about 9/11. Please come for what I promise will be a lively discussion.

Sheridan Student Union Elections- Please Vote!

I have done some background research into the voting patterns at Sheridan for VP candidates. Last year's margin was a mere 115 votes, with a total of 735 votes. This means that the 9/11 Politics Club can make a real impact on this election.

I have been trying hard to learn about the VP candidates' positions on the issue of 9/11, and I have gotten very good response from Ankit Bhalla, who replied quickly to my request to meet. When we did, I found him to be friendly and straightforward about supporting the club's interests. Ankit would be pleased to make sure our right to free speech is not infringed, and would likely act independently from the school administration.

The other VP candidate Sue Mills has not responded to my calls, emails, or facebook posts. She says about herself:
"I want to make sure that everyone knows that I am approachable and that I'm very understanding, and I'm willing to listen." This rings hollow because she's had a week now to respond to me and I haven't heard from her. In addition to that, my opinion is that her platform is immature and image-based. I have little confidence that she would interest herself in or be knowledgeable about the issues relevant to our club.

Voting is Wednesday and Thursday in the Student Centre. If you feel passionate about getting the truth out there and ending these disgusting wars, do your democratic duty and show the new SU directors how much you care.

Toronto Stop The War Coalition Rally

The rally started with speeches by various groups concerned about the war, and then we marched around downtown and ended at the Toronto City Hall. It was a great networking event, and Mike and I met up with active youths from around the area. We proposed keeping in touch and working together. It was hard to estimate the attendance, but there were about 25 people with signs specifically about 9/11. Thanks to Somebigguy at 911blogger.com!

The Toronto 9/11 Meetup Group met at a coffee shop prior to the rally to network and discuss the issues. If you want to be a part of it, just sign up, and you will be notified via email when the next meetup event will be. I will be trying to attend regularly.

Also at the rally we got in touch with M.Keefer, a professor at University of Guelph, who is part of Scholars for 9/11 Truth, which is an organization of university-affiliated people who question the official account of 9/11. I have invited him to speak at Sheridan College and will be arranging this soon. I look forward to promoting this upcoming event!

Campaign Week

Sheridan students were surprised today to see a huge banner present in the student centre at Davis Campus that reads "Wake up Sheridan! U.S. Agents Did 9/11". Just one part of the campaign, the Politics Club members handed out flyers, free dvds, and displayed independent 9/11 documentaries on the wall. A significant number of people signed up for the club's email list.

The message was received well by most people, and I am encouraged by the conversations I had with Sheridan students. The table was set up between 8am-12:45pm, and will be set up again on tuesday and friday. At request, I'm adding Loose Change to the video list. Enjoy!

9/11 Truth Exhibition with TruTube

Wake up Sheridan! It is time to get aware of the what is happening on the world stage. Our country is involved in a bloody war in Afghanistan because of a big lie. Over the course of this week-long campaign, I want to deconstruct this lie in front of you simply and straightforwardly as an educational public service. It is not my responsibility. It is supposed to be the media's. They aren't rising to their duty so i'm rising to mine as a citizen of conscience, to do what plainly what needs to be done: and help everyone know this lie and be prepared for the next.
